Hello MIUI'ers,

Google Lens 1.3, the latest version of the image recognition by search giant Google, has hinted at new features in the future. According to the information surfacing online, it looks like developers working on Google Lens are planning to add a new “AR Shopping” feature in the app. This is likely to bring the world of shopping to the living room. Instead of going to a store, users will be able the device in Augmented reality. This new feature was spotted in an APK teardown.

One thing to note here is that the features that are usually spotted in these teardowns may undergo significant changes or may even be removed before the final version is rolled out.Google launched the standalone app for its Google Lens feature back in June. With subsequent updates, the company has added features including the Share menu, and is even going to replicate the Art Selfies feature that the company initially launched in its Google Arts and Culture app.

This upcoming feature will allow users to preview items, including furniture, in their space before they plan on buying the device. According to an in-depth report by 9 to 5Google, the company will organize different furniture items in neat categories while showcasing the price, and other details including the seller of the product.

It is not clear if the company will tie up with existing retailers or if the company will take the job of scanning and then matching the results from its own database. There is no clarity on how this function will work within the Google lensapp as currently Google Lens relies on other camera apps including the built-in camera app in Google Pixel, OnePlus and other devices.
